Canada's oldest seaside town, St Andrews-by-the-Sea in New Brunswick is located on beautiful Passamaquoddy Bay and offers visitors a wealth of recreational activities, from golf and whale watching to sea kayaking and scuba diving. A National Historic District, St Andrews-by-the-Sea has a number of grand summer cottages from the turn of the century as well as many historic churches amid unparalleled scenery. Shopping in St Andrews means a leisurely stroll along quaint streets filled with specialty boutiques and arts and crafts galleries selling pottery, blown glass, jewelry, wood sculpture, and paintings.

Bay of Fundy
The Bay of Fundy is one of the marine wonders of the world, situated close to The Fairmont Algonquin. A must during your St Andrews hotel stay, the bay features tides that fluctuate up to 48 feet, allowing visitors to explore the ocean floor at low tides.

Campobello Island / International Park
Campobello Island was the site of the summer home of President Roosevelt. Make the short walk from the hotel to St Andrews Harbour to take a boat to the island, or, if you would prefer to drive, the island is 43 miles by road from The Fairmont Algonquin.

Atlantic Salmon Interpretive Centre
The Atlantic Salmon Federation's interpretation centre acquaints visitors with all aspects of the wild Atlantic salmon's history, biology, and challenging environment. Visitors will also enjoy the Salmon Hall of Fame, nature trails, and in-stream aquarium, where live salmon can be observed in their natural surroundings. Open June until late September.

Huntsman Marine Science Center Aquarium / Museum
Located 2 miles from the hotel, the museum features exhibits about local marine and freshwater environment. Highlights include a large touch pool, a family of harbour seals, aquariums with freshwater and marine fish, and terrarium with amphibians and reptiles. Open May to October.

Katy's Cove and Saltwater Beach
Katy's Cove and sandy, saltwater beach is just a five-minute walk from The Fairmont Algonquin. Great for picnics, barbeques and outdoor events.

Kingsbrae Gardens
This majestic 27-acre horticultural masterpiece nestled within the heart of St.Andrews by-the-Sea is open daily for all to enjoy from mid-May until October. With over 40,000 trees, shrubs and perennials, a stunning view of Ministers Island and overlooking Passamaquoddy Bay, the constantly changing garden extends a natural invitation to return again and again.

Minister's Island
Five to ten minutes from The Fairmont Algonquin hotel, this is a St Andrews-by-the-Sea attraction that cannot be missed. The island features a guided tour of the opulent summer residence of Sir William Van Horne, Canada's visionary railway builder.

Ross Museum
A hidden gem in St Andrews-by-the-Sea, the Ross Museum features a wonderful collection of art from around the world. It is just a half mile from the hotel.

Saint Croix Island
Saint Croix Island is an international historic site and viewing parks are located on both sides of the river. The first Europeans to settle in the area were a company of French explorers led by Sieur de Monts (Pierre de Gua) and Samuel Champlain in 1604. For more information, visit the Parks Canada website.

Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre invites visitors to experience artistic inspiration and scientific exploration in scenic St Andrews-by-the-Sea. Hotel guests will find Sunbury Shores a short walk from The Fairmont Algonquin.
