VAT in Mexico
As of January 2004, Mexico has repealed its long-standing 15% value added tax for foreign meetings and conventions. These activities will now be classified as an export, which means that foreign tourists who travel to Mexico expressly to participate in congresses, conventions, or fairs are exempt from paying the VAT for hotels and related services provided by the hotels.
